The Danger of Friend Groups

  • Most of my friendships are one-to-one because it is where I feel I have the most freedom to speak and be myself
  • I am sceptical of friend groups because at some point the group will tend to focus more on keeping cohesive rather than seeking the truth
  • The cost of rocking a boat with just two people is much lower than rocking it with a dozen people
  • It becomes harder to call people out because it takes a group consensus
  • It becomes harder to change and admit things because losing face in front of a dozen people is a lot worse than temporarily getting ego checked in the privacy of a one-to-one friendship
