The hyper rich are able to live a good life on a single income (usually the husband’s) which leads to the classic trophy wife situation
In the middle class, in which both have to work, could create situations in which we have a trophy husband
It’s a rough concept, so let me cook: a trophy husband is a man who enables a woman to live a life that she has envisioned
In the same way that it doesn’t matter who the woman is occupying the trophy wife role but rather the attributes she possesses, the trophy husband is an equally anonymous figure as long as he fulfils the criteria of a stable income and maybe a baseline degree of fertility
There is a deep desire to fit in and to have a life that you see around you, it could be that many couples are transactional in that they fulfil a role for each other that is not determined by their individuality but their ability to fulfil that role
