It’s Cheaper To Live In The Simulation

A simulation is a representation of reality.
It is cheaper to access representations than the experience itself; one can simulate an entire trip (or an entire life for that matter) in Japan via Youtube.
As the cost of accessing real experiences becomes more expensive, it makes sense that people will seek simulated substitutes such as escapist videos on Youtube instead of travel, porn instead of physical intimacy.
There’s a tangent to be explored on whether pets are simulations of children.
The retreat into the simulation may cause reality to collapse. Pubs have long been in decline and now nightclubs are closing in record numbers. There are counterexamples with the rise of climbing gyms and running clubs.
