Things I wish to remember. Spoilers below.

  • The way the father opened up at the end and the idea that wish fulfilment (of an understanding father) is actually valuable.
  • The night where Elio was overcome by both fear and desire, the way he jumped into Oliver’s arms, straight up.
  • Peach scene.
  • Oliver calling Elio at the end of the film to tell him that he was engaged but also saying “he remembered everything” thereby acknowledging what happened and affirming the value of what they shared as it was worth keeping in his memory. It is the opposite of gaslighting, it’s protecting a shared reality.
